Final Mobility to Ireland! June 2015
In the first week of June, we welcomed 29 pupils and teachers/ teaching assistants from Wales and Sweden. This was a great way to finish up our Fit Minds Project! On Tuesday, everyone arrived and settled into their accommodation. As there was no school in Ireland that day, we headed out on a forest hike. It was lovely to walk and talk together.
On Wednesday, it was time to go to school. We had a huge assembly to welcome everyone to the school. We had a fun dance class with one of our parents and then it was time to join our classes. All of our visiting pupils were given a 'uniform top' and they joined their host class. In their classes they took part in maths activities, did PE and joined in other activities. By the end of the day they had made friends.
On Wednesday evening, brought some of our pupils up to the centre where everyone was staying. After an introduction to hurling and a 'Poc Fada' competition, we had an international quiz with a mix of pupils on each table. The quiz had general knowledge, maths and sports rounds. Great fun was had by all and it was a close competition!
On Thursday, we all went on a trip together into Dublin. It was great fun. In the evening, we went to the school disco!
Friday was meant to be our Sports Day, but, the weather didn't help us.. Big rain meant that the day had to be cancelled. We still enjoyed the inflatable obstacle course in the hall and we went bowling instead. After all the going, we went back to the centre. We had lovely songs from each group and said our thank yous to each other. On Saturday morning it was time to say goodbye! It was a wonderful trip and all of the pupils were fantastic!!
